Car
If you are driving, head towards the M5 road which runs along the eastern shore of Lake Malawi. From places like Nkhata Bay or Salima, follow the M5 southwards. Kande Beach is located approximately 25 kilometers north of the town of Mangochi. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Kande Beach as you approach the area. The final stretch will require you to turn off the M5 onto a dirt road leading directly to the beach.
Public Transportation (Minibus)
To reach Kande Beach via public transportation, catch a minibus heading towards Mangochi from nearby towns like Nkhata Bay or Salima. The fare typically ranges from 500 to 1,500 Malawian Kwacha depending on the distance. Once you reach Mangochi, you will need to take another minibus heading to Kande Beach or ask locals for directions to the nearest drop-off point. It is a good idea to ask the driver to drop you off as close to Kande Beach as possible. The last stretch may require a short walk.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from nearby towns. This option may be more expensive, costing around 10,000 to 20,000 Malawian Kwacha, but it provides door-to-door service. Ensure you agree on a fare before starting your journey. The taxi will take you directly to Kande Beach from your location.
Boat (if applicable)
For an adventurous option, consider taking a boat from nearby islands or beaches on Lake Malawi. Check with local operators for availability and pricing. Costs can vary widely depending on the distance and the size of the boat, but expect to pay at least 5,000 Malawian Kwacha for shorter trips. Ensure you confirm the landing point at Kande Beach with the boat operator.
