Car
If you are traveling by car in Lilongwe Plain, start from the center of Lilongwe. Navigate towards the M1 highway by following signs for the main road. Once on the M1, head south toward the direction of Blantyre. After approximately 10 kilometers, take the exit toward the Lilongwe City Center. Continue straight for about 5 kilometers until you reach the crossroads, where you will see signs for tourist attractions in the area. Follow the signs to your destination. Ensure that you have enough fuel, as gas stations can be sparse outside of the city center.
Public Transportation (Minibus)
To reach your destination using public transportation, locate a minibus station in Lilongwe Plain. The minibuses are a common form of transport and will take you towards the city center. Boards the minibus heading towards the City Center and pay the fare, which is typically around 500 MKW (Malawian Kwacha). Upon reaching the City Center, you can either walk or catch another minibus that specifically goes to your desired destination. For a more direct route, consider taking a taxi. You can hire a taxi from any point in Lilongwe Plain. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand; typical rates for short distances within the city are around 3000-5000 MKW, depending on the distance. The taxi will take you directly to your destination without any stops, which is convenient if you are carrying luggage or traveling in a group.
