Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
Start from the center of Area 47, where you can find various shops and eateries. Head south towards Chigoneka Road. Walk along this road for approximately 10-15 minutes until you reach a junction. At the junction, turn left onto the main road, which is marked with several local shops. Continue straight for another 5 minutes, and you will see the Rose Garden on your right side. Look for the sign that indicates the entry.
Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, you can rent one from a local shop in Area 47. Start by cycling south along Chigoneka Road. This route is relatively flat and safe for cyclists. After about 10 minutes, you'll reach a junction. Turn left and continue cycling for another 5 minutes. The Rose Garden will be on your right. Make sure to lock your bicycle at the designated area near the entrance.
Motorbike Taxi (Boda-boda)
For a quicker option, you can hire a motorbike taxi, commonly known as a boda-boda. Look for boda-boda drivers near local shops or ask your hotel for assistance in finding one. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey; it should cost around 500-1000 MWK depending on the distance. The driver should know the Rose Garden location, so simply tell them you want to go there. The ride will take approximately 5-10 minutes.
