Getting There

Car Rental
From your location in Liwonde National Park, head east on the main road that leads out of the park towards the M1 highway. Continue for about 15 kilometers until you reach the junction at Nkula. Take a left turn onto the M1 highway toward Balaka. Drive for approximately 20 kilometers, keeping an eye out for signs indicating Chikala Hills. Once you see the signs, follow the dirt road for about 5 kilometers, which will lead you directly to Chikala Hills. Ensure your vehicle has a higher clearance as parts of the road may be uneven.

Public Transportation
While in Liwonde National Park, you can take a minibus from the park entrance to the nearest town, Liwonde. From there, look for a minibus heading towards Balaka. The fare is approximately 1,000 MWK. Once you arrive in Balaka, you will need to hire a local taxi to take you to Chikala Hills. The taxi fare should be around 5,000 MWK, and the drive will take about 30 minutes. Make sure to negotiate the fare before getting in.
