Getting There

    From the center of Mangochi, head south along the main road, which is the D233. Continue walking straight for about 4 kilometers until you reach a junction. Look for signs indicating Mua. At this junction, turn left and continue along the D233 for another 2 kilometers. You will notice the surroundings becoming more rural. As you approach the dam area, you may see signs directing you to Bwanje Valley Dam. The dam will be on your right side. Follow the trail leading to the dam for the final stretch.

    Start at the main square in Mangochi and rent a bicycle from a local shop. Head south on the D233 road. Cycle for about 4 kilometers until you reach a junction. Turn left at the junction towards Mua. Continue cycling straight for an additional 2 kilometers along the D233. Look for signs to Bwanje Valley Dam and keep an eye on your right side as you approach the dam area. There are trails leading to the dam, which you can follow.

  • Motorbike Taxi (Pillion)

    From your accommodation in Mangochi, hire a local motorbike taxi (commonly referred to as 'pillion'). Inform the driver that you want to go to Bwanje Valley Dam, which is located along the D233. The driver will take you south on the D233 road. The journey will take approximately 20 minutes. They will drop you off at the junction where you need to turn left towards Mua. From there, continue walking for about 15 minutes until you reach the dam area.
