    If you're driving, start from the town of Mulanje. Head towards the Mulanje Mountain National Park entrance located at the base of the mountain. The entrance is well-marked and is approximately a 30-minute drive from Mulanje town center. Make sure to pay the entry fee of about 1,000 MWK per person at the gate. Once inside, follow the signs to the various trails leading up the mountain.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Mount Mulanje using public transport, take a minibus from Blantyre to Mulanje town. The journey takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. Once in Mulanje, locate a local taxi or another minibus heading to the Mulanje Mountain National Park entrance. The taxi fare should be around 1,500 MWK. Upon arrival at the park entrance, pay the entry fee of around 1,000 MWK per person and follow the trail signs to reach different hiking routes on the mountain.

    Once at the Mulanje Mountain National Park entrance, choose your hiking trail. If you’re inexperienced, consider hiring a local guide available at the entrance, which typically costs around 10,000 MWK for a day.
