Chambe Hut: Your Cozy Retreat on Mt. Mulanje

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start from the town of Mulanje. Take the road heading southeast towards the Mulanje Mountain National Park entrance. Follow the signs to the park, which will lead you through scenic landscapes. Upon entering the park, continue along the main road until you reach the Chambe Hut trailhead. Park your vehicle at the designated parking area near the trailhead. From there, you will need to hike approximately 2-3 hours uphill to reach Chambe Hut, which is located at coordinates 3GRV+M9J, Mulanje.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Chambe Hut via public transport, take a minibus or taxi from Mulanje town heading to the Mulanje Mountain National Park. Ask the driver to drop you off at the park entrance. The fare is usually around 500-1000 MWK per person. Once you arrive at the entrance, you will have to find a guide or join a group to hike to Chambe Hut. There are no direct public transport routes to the hut itself, so a guided hike is necessary. Be prepared for a hike of about 2-3 hours with necessary hiking gear.

  Once you have arrived at the trailhead near the Chambe Hut parking area, begin your hike along the marked trail. The path is steep in places, so be sure to wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring enough water and snacks for the journey. Follow the trail indicators and signs that will lead you directly to Chambe Hut.
