Walking
From the center of Nkhata Bay, head east towards the lakeshore. Walk along the main road (Chikangawa Road) that runs parallel to the lake. Continue walking until you reach the junction with the road leading to the Kalwe Forest Reserve. This will be on your right. The forest reserve is located approximately 6 km from Nkhata Bay town center. Follow the signs that indicate the direction to Kalwe Forest Reserve. Be mindful of local traffic and keep an eye out for any pedestrians or cyclists.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Nkhata Bay. Start at the town center and ride east along Chikangawa Road towards the lakeshore. Continue on this road for about 6 km until you reach the junction for Kalwe Forest Reserve. The ride should take around 30-40 minutes depending on your pace. Please wear a helmet and be cautious of the local traffic.

Public Transportation (Matola)
From Nkhata Bay, catch a matola (minibus) heading towards Mzuzu. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the junction for Kalwe Forest Reserve. The driver will drop you off at the nearest point to the reserve. From there, you will need to walk approximately 2 km along the dirt path leading into the forest reserve. Make sure to ask locals for directions if you're unsure, as they will be familiar with the area.
