Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards Nkhotakota from Mzuzu. Take the M1 highway and drive south. After approximately 140 km, you will reach Nkhotakota. Once in Nkhotakota, follow signs to Nkotakhota Wildlife Reserve. The lodge is located within the reserve. The roads may be gravel, so drive cautiously. Ensure to have a map or GPS as some areas may not have clear signage.
Public Transport
For those using public transport, take a minibus from Mzuzu to Nkhotakota. The journey takes about 3-4 hours depending on stops. Upon arrival at Nkhotakota, you will need to hire a taxi or arrange a local transport service to take you to Nkotakhota Wildlife Reserve. Confirm the fare beforehand; it should be around MK 5,000 to MK 10,000. Be sure to mention that you are going to Bua River Lodge, as some drivers may not be familiar with it.
Taxi
If you prefer to travel directly, you can hire a taxi from Nkhotakota to Bua River Lodge. This option is more expensive, costing around MK 20,000 to MK 30,000. Ensure to negotiate the price before starting your journey. The taxi will take you directly to the lodge, which is located within Nkotakhota Wildlife Reserve.
