After approximately 30 kilometers, you will reach the junction to Liwonde National Park. Continue straight on the M3 for another 20 kilometers until you see signs for Lake Malombe. Turn right onto the dirt road that leads directly to the lake. The total drive should take around 1 hour.

For those using public transport, you can take a minibus from Zomba to Liwonde. Buses depart regularly throughout the day and the fare is typically around 1,500 MWK. Once you arrive in Liwonde, you can catch a local taxi or a motorbike taxi (known as 'boda boda') to Lake Malombe. The taxi ride will cost about 2,000 MWK and takes approximately 20 minutes. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting your journey.
