• Car

  If you are traveling by car from any location in Shire Valley, first navigate to the main M1 road which connects Lilongwe and Mzuzu. From the center of Shire Valley, head towards the M1 road while following local road signs. Once you reach the M1, drive approximately 200 km north towards Mzuzu. Look for the signs indicating Luwawa Forest Lodge. You'll need to turn off the M1 about 10 km after the Dowa district towards a smaller road leading into the forested area. Follow the signs for Luwawa Forest Lodge until you reach your destination. Be prepared for some rougher roads, and ensure your vehicle is suitable for such terrain.

• Public Transportation

  To travel by public transportation, you can take a minibus from Shire Valley to Lilongwe. Once you reach Lilongwe, you should find a minibus or shared taxi heading towards Mzuzu. Inform the driver that you need to get off near Luwawa Forest Lodge. The drop-off point will likely be near the M1 road, approximately 200 km north of Lilongwe. From there, you may need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a pickup with Luwawa Forest Lodge directly, as public transport may not reach the lodge's entrance. It’s advisable to call ahead to confirm transportation arrangements with the lodge, as they may offer shuttle services.
