If you're traveling by car from Blantyre, take the A6 road towards Mwanza. After approximately 90 kilometers, you will reach the town of Mwanza. From Mwanza, continue on the A6 for another 60 kilometers until you reach the junction for the M5 road. Turn left onto the M5 and follow the signs to Lake Malawi. The total journey should take about 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Ensure you have enough fuel, as service stations are sparse along the way.
Public Transportation
To travel by public transport, head to the Blantyre bus station and look for buses heading to Mangochi or Monkey Bay, as these routes pass close to Lake Malawi. The bus ride will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Once you arrive at Monkey Bay, you can take a local taxi or a minibus to the lakeside area.
