If you are traveling by car, start from Zomba town. Head southeast on the M3 road towards the Zomba Plateau. After approximately 8 km, take the left onto the road leading to the Lilomba village. Continue straight for about 5 km until you reach the Malape pillars. Ensure your vehicle can navigate the rough terrain, as the last part of the journey may involve unpaved roads.
Public Transportation
From Zomba town, you can catch a minibus heading towards the Zomba Plateau. Inform the driver you are going to Lilomba. The fare is typically around 500 MWK. Once you arrive at Lilomba village, you may need to hire a local taxi or find a motorcycle taxi (boda-boda) to take you the remaining 3 km to the Malape pillars. Taxi fares can vary, but expect to pay around 1,500 MWK for this short trip.
Walking
For the adventurous, you can walk from Lilomba village to the Malape pillars. The walk is about 3 km and will take approximately 45 minutes.
