Walking
From the center of Zomba, head south on M1 Road towards Thyolo. Walk about 3 kilometers until you reach the junction where M1 meets the M2 road. You will see signs for Thyolo Tea Estate. Continue straight along M2 for approximately 8 kilometers. As you walk, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the hills and tea plantations. Keep an eye out for local transport options if you need a break, but walking is a great way to experience the area.
Minibus
From Zomba, make your way to the main minibus station (located near the Zomba Market). Look for a minibus heading towards Thyolo or Blantyre. Board the minibus and inform the driver of your destination, Thyolo Tea Estate. The journey will take about 30-40 minutes. Once you reach Thyolo, ask the conductor to drop you off at the closest point to Thyolo Tea Estate. From there, it may be a short walk (about 1-2 kilometers) to the estate.
Bicycle Rental
If you prefer a more active approach, consider renting a bicycle from one of the local shops in Zomba. Once you have your bike, head south on M1 Road for about 3 kilometers until you reach the junction with M2. Turn left onto M2 and continue cycling straight for approximately 8 kilometers. The ride offers a great opportunity to enjoy the lush landscapes of the tea estates along the way. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow local traffic rules.
