Car
If you're traveling by car, head towards Miri, Sarawak. From Miri city center, take the Miri-Bintulu Road (Route 2) and drive approximately 30 kilometers to the turnoff for the Gunung Mulu National Park. Follow the signs to the park entrance, where you will need to pay an entrance fee (around RM 30 for adults, RM 15 for children). After entering the park, you can either park your car at the designated area and take a guided tour or opt for the park's shuttle service to the Deer Cave entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Deer Cave via public transport, take a bus from Miri to the town of Marudi. Buses leave regularly from Miri's main bus terminal and the fare is approximately RM 10. After arriving in Marudi, you will need to take a longboat (approximately RM 20 per person) from the Marudi river jetty to the entrance of Gunung Mulu National Park. Be sure to check the longboat schedules in advance, as they may vary. Once you arrive at the park, you’ll need to pay the entrance fee (around RM 30 for adults, RM 15 for children) and from there, you can join a guided tour or hike to Deer Cave on your own.
Flight
For those coming from other parts of Borneo, consider flying into Mulu Airport. Airlines such as MASwings offer flights from major cities like Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. Once you arrive at Mulu Airport, you can either take a taxi (around RM 30) or pre-arranged transfer to Gunung Mulu National Park. Upon arrival at the park, pay the entrance fee (around RM 30 for adults, RM 15 for children) and proceed to Deer Cave by joining a guided tour or hiking on your own.
