Car
If you're driving, start your journey from Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah. Head east on the E1 highway towards Sandakan. After approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes of driving (around 200 km), you will reach the town of Telupid. From Telupid, take the road to Imbak Canyon which is well-marked. The drive will take about 1 hour (around 40 km). Please note that the final stretch may be on a gravel road, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended. There may be entry fees to the conservation area, which can vary.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, take a bus from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan. The bus ride takes about 6-7 hours and costs around RM 40-50. Once in Sandakan, you will need to hire a taxi or a local transport service to reach Telupid, which is approximately 1 hour away (costing around RM 80-100). From Telupid, you will need to arrange for a private vehicle or 4WD taxi to take you to Imbak Canyon, as public transport options may be limited. Be prepared for additional costs for entry into the conservation area.
