If you're driving from anywhere in East Malaysia, you will first need to fly to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) as there are no direct roads connecting East Malaysia to West Malaysia. Once you arrive at KLIA, rent a car or take a taxi to Plaza Tugu Negara. The drive from KLIA to Plaza Tugu Negara is approximately 60 km and will take about 45 minutes. Follow the signs to the city center, and then take the Jalan Duta exit. Continue on Jalan Duta, then turn onto Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim. Follow signs for Tugu Negara, which will lead you to Pesiaran Sultan Salahuddin.

From Kuala Lumpur International Airport, you can take the KLIA Ekspres train to KL Sentral. The fare is around RM 55, and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Once at KL Sentral, transfer to the MRT or bus that goes towards the National Monument (Tugu Negara). The MRT will drop you at the nearest station; from there, you can take a taxi or ride-sharing service for a quick ride to Plaza Tugu Negara. Alternatively, bus services from KL Sentral to Tugu Negara are available and typically cost around RM 3. The bus ride may take approximately 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
