Fantastic tour, all round service and the best guide I’ve ever had

AJ Borneo did a brilliant job of joining my whole trip together, organising my accommodation, transfers and Bako National Park tour. They were extremely responsive on WhatsApp, even early in the morning and late at night, always punctual and really accommodating when plans changed. I made a change just before the trip and they even refunded one night’s accommodation. When we arrived late and couldn’t find the hotel staff, the guide stayed until everything was sorted. That level of care really stood out. The biggest highlight was my guide, Ahmadie. I’ve done countless tours around the world and, honestly, he’s the best guide I’ve ever had. Being from the area, his knowledge of the region and its wildlife was extensive, but almost everything we talked about seemed to be his specialist subject. Just a really interesting person to spend the day with, and I feel very lucky to have had him as my guide. I can’t recommend him highly enough. Bako itself was incredible. The weather held out, we saw lots of wildlife, including a family of proboscis monkeys moving through the rainforest, and the walk was mostly very manageable, with a few more demanding sections. I found that all tours in Borneo are more expensive than elsewhere in Southeast Asia, so it’s worth budgeting for that. But this was such a unique experience, and with the care and service from AJ Borneo, I felt it was money well spent. I’d happily book with them again.

Excellent tour guides - great time.

We were lucky enough to get the best tour guises for our trip to the wetlands. The elderly lady (sorry don’t know her name!) has been a tour guide since 1986 and had exceptional knowledge on everything! She made the tour a lot of fun. The other tour guide was great with navigation and finding all the animals which we saw all of them. A fantastic experience, would recommend. Also clear communication- you get their WhatsApp as soon as you book, and could have altered the booking earlier. Also note we had others in our group that booked with another company- boat was not as comfortable/ nor was the car they were in. They also didn’t see as many animals as us.

The road was pleasant, the guide, a wealth of relevant information about the day and Malaysia, drove very well to the rehabilitation center Centre that was great a visit worthwhile and was quality always accompanied by our guide who showed up at disposal to take pictures and share them with us.
