If you are in George Town, head to the local bus terminal at Pengkalan Weld. Look for the bus number 204, which goes directly to Penang Hill. The bus ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Penang Hill bus terminal, follow the signs to the funicular railway station. Purchase your ticket for the funicular train that will take you up to the summit of Penang Hill.
Taxi or Grab
You can book a taxi or Grab (a popular ride-hailing service) from anywhere in Penang. Simply open the app, enter 'Penang Hill' or the address '11500 Bukit Bendera, Penang' as your destination, and confirm your pickup location. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will drop you off at the base of the hill where the funicular railway station is located.
Walking
If you are near the base of Penang Hill, such as in the area of Air Itam, you can opt to walk to the funicular railway station. From the Air Itam market, head towards Jalan Bukit Bendera and follow the signs leading to the funicular station. Please note that the walk is steep and could take about 30-45 minutes. It is recommended for those who enjoy hiking and are physically fit.
