Getting there

Car

If you are driving, first make your way to Kuala Besut, which is the main departure point for boats to the Perhentian Islands. From Kuala Terengganu, the drive takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once in Kuala Besut, park your car at one of the designated parking areas and head to the jetty. Purchase a boat ticket to Pulau Perhentian Besar. The boat ride typically costs around RM 70 for a return trip and takes approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival at the jetty on Pulau Perhentian Besar, you can either walk or take a short boat ride to Small Beach, which is located on the western side of the island.

Public Transportation

If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Besut. Bus companies like Unititi Express or Transnasional operate this route and the journey will take about 8 to 9 hours. Once you arrive in Kuala Besut, you can find local taxis or walk to the jetty to catch a boat to Pulau Perhentian Besar. The boat ticket costs around RM 70 for a round trip. After arriving at Pulau Perhentian Besar, walk or take a short boat ride to reach Small Beach, which is located on the western side of the island.
