Car
If you are travelling by car, start from the nearest town in Baa Atoll, such as Dharavandhoo. Drive towards the main jetty area where you can find transportation services. Make sure to follow local traffic regulations, as the roads may not be well-marked. Upon reaching the jetty, you will need to park your car in a designated area (parking fees may apply).
Public Transportation (Speedboat)
From the Dharavandhoo jetty, take a scheduled speedboat service to Fares. Speedboats are the primary mode of transport between islands in Baa Atoll. You can purchase tickets at the jetty or book in advance through local travel agencies. The journey typically takes about 30 minutes and costs around $20-30 per person, depending on the operator.
Public Transportation (Dhoni)
If you prefer a more traditional experience, you can opt for a Dhoni (a local wooden boat) from the nearest island with ferry services. This option might take longer (about 1 hour) and may cost a little less than the speedboat. Check the local ferry schedules, as they might not run as frequently as speedboats.
Use Fares as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
