Car
If you are traveling by car, start from any location in Hithadhoo Island and navigate towards the main road leading to Gan Island. Drive towards the Gan International Airport. Once you reach the airport area, look for signs indicating the direction to Bodufinolhu. Follow the road until you reach the ferry terminal. Park your car at the designated parking area, as there are no vehicles allowed on the sandbank itself.
Public Transportation
To reach Sandbank via public transportation, head to the nearest bus stop in Hithadhoo Island. Board a bus heading towards Gan Island; the fare is typically around 10-25 MVR (Maldivian Rufiyaa). Once you arrive at Gan Island, disembark at the bus stop closest to Gan International Airport. From there, you will need to hire a local boat to reach Bodufinolhu Sandbank. The boat ride may cost around 500-1,000 MVR per person, depending on the service provider. Make sure to negotiate the price before boarding.
Boat Rental
If you prefer a more private option, consider renting a local boat directly from Hithadhoo Island. Look for boat rental services near the waterfront. Prices for a private boat can vary, typically ranging from 1,500 to 3,000 MVR for a round trip, depending on the size of the boat and the duration of your outing. Ensure you agree on the pickup and drop-off times before setting off for the sandbank.
