Experience the best of urban beach life at Malé's Artificial Beach, where relaxation meets recreation in the heart of the Maldives.
Malé's Artificial Beach is a stunning urban oasis perfect for relaxation and recreation in the heart of the Maldives. With its soft sands and inviting waters, it offers a quintessential island experience for tourists seeking respite from the bustling city life.
Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Walking
From the center of Malé, head towards the eastern side of the island. Start at the Maldives Islamic Centre, which is a well-known landmark. Walk southeast along Majeedhee Magu, the main road. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Boduthakurufaanu Magu. Turn left and walk straight until you reach the waterfront. Artificial Beach will be on your right, easily recognizable by its sandy area and the sea.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops near the Maldives Islamic Centre. Follow Majeedhee Magu heading southeast. After about 1 kilometer, turn left onto Boduthakurufaanu Magu. Keep cycling straight until you reach the waterfront, where you will see Artificial Beach on your right. There are bike racks available for parking.
Public Ferry
If you are near the Malé Ferry Terminal, you can take a public ferry to nearby islands. Although Artificial Beach is on Malé, this option can be a scenic way to see the coast. Board a ferry heading towards Hulhumalé, but be sure to inform the crew you're getting off at Artificial Beach. The ferry ride will give you stunning views of the surrounding waters, and you will disembark at the designated stop near the beach.
