Seaplane
The most common way to reach Faarufushi Island is via seaplane from Velana International Airport (MLE) in Malé. Upon arrival at MLE, a resort representative will greet you and escort you to the seaplane terminal. The scenic seaplane flight takes approximately 45 minutes. Seaplane transfers are typically arranged by the resort and included in the overall cost of your stay. Expect to pay around $590 per adult and $360 per child for a round trip. Private seaplane transfers are also available at an additional cost.
Domestic Flight and Speedboat
An alternative to the seaplane is a domestic flight from Velana International Airport (MLE) to Ifuru Airport (IFU), followed by a short speedboat ride to Faarufushi Island. The domestic flight to Ifuru takes approximately 35 minutes, and the speedboat transfer is about 5 minutes. This option is generally less expensive than the seaplane. However, seaplanes are usually recommended as domestic flights are subject to last minute changes and cancellations. The cost for a domestic flight and speedboat transfer is typically included in the resort package.
