The Centre Culturel Sénoufo (Senufo Cultural Center) in Sikasso stands as a vital institution dedicated to researching, safeguarding, and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Senufo people. The Senufo people, known for their art, agricultural skills, and unique social structures, primarily inhabit regions spanning Mali, Ivory Coast, and Burkina Faso. Founded in November 2005 by Father Emilio Escudero Yangüela, a Spanish missionary, the center embodies a commitment to interreligious and intercultural dialogue. Following Father Escudero's death in 2012, the center continues its mission under the guidance of the Association “Wu Nire” (meaning “Our Roots” in the Senufo language). The center's management involves the Association Wu Niré, the Society of the Missionaries of Africa, and the diocese of Sikasso.The Centre Culturel Sénoufo actively works to preserve elements of Senufo culture that face threats, striving to increase openness to other socio-cultural perspectives. The center has three official sites, with two actively used, featuring buildings adorned with motifs and symbols of local cultures. It also offers a conference room and accommodations for visitors and researchers.
