Car
If you are traveling by car from Blue Lagoon, start by heading southeast on the road towards Comino Ferry. Follow the signs for Mgarr and take the ferry to the mainland. Once you arrive at the Mgarr terminal, drive towards Rabat on Triq il-Majjistral. Continue on this road for about 8 km, then follow the signs for Mdina. Turn left onto Triq Mdina which will lead you directly to Mdina Gate. There is parking available nearby, but it may incur a cost of approximately €2-€3 for a couple of hours.
Public Transportation
To reach Mdina Gate using public transportation, start by taking the ferry from Blue Lagoon to Mgarr. Once you arrive at Mgarr terminal, look for the bus stop outside the terminal. Board bus route 101, which travels to Valletta and stops in Mdina. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Ensure you have a single bus ticket, which costs around €2.50. Once you get off at the Mdina bus stop, it’s a short walk to Mdina Gate.
Ferry + Walk
Begin your journey by taking the ferry from Blue Lagoon to Mgarr. After disembarking from the ferry, head to the nearby bus station and take bus route 101 towards Valletta. Get off at the Mdina stop. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk to Mdina Gate. Follow the signs leading into the ancient city. This option is ideal for those who enjoy walking and want to soak in the scenery along the way.
