    The Santa Marija Tower, also known as the Comino Tower, stands as a proud sentinel on the island of Comino, guarding the Maltese archipelago. Constructed in 1618 by Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt of the Knights of St. John, it formed part of a network of coastal watchtowers designed to protect the islands from pirates and invaders.The tower's strategic location, approximately 80 meters above sea level, allowed for commanding views of the surrounding Mediterranean waters.
