Discover more about Ta' Ċenċ Cliffs

Ta' Ċenċ Cliffs, situated near the village of Sannat on Gozo's southern coast, present a dramatic and unforgettable landscape. The cliffs rise vertically from the Mediterranean Sea, reaching heights of up to 120 meters. This creates a stunning contrast between the rugged coastline and the deep blue waters below. Ta' Ċenċ is not only a visual spectacle but also an area of significant ecological, geological, and archaeological importance. The cliffs are an Important Bird Area (IBA), providing a nesting ground for various seabirds, including Cory's shearwaters and Yelkouan shearwaters. The area's garrigue and cliff habitats support unique plant species adapted to the harsh conditions. Visitors can explore the area's intriguing cart ruts, mysterious parallel grooves in the limestone believed to date back thousands of years. These tracks, along with the remains of the megalithic temple of Tal-Imramma and dolmens from the Early Bronze Age, add to the historical allure of the site. Walking along the cliff tops offers panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea, the nearby Mġarr ix-Xini Bay, and the Gozitan countryside.
