The visitor center is divided into two main areas. The first features interactive touch screens and printed panels that explore the evolution of Cittadella, its natural environment, military and ecclesiastical history, and civil development. The second area is a surround theater that presents an eight-minute video showcasing key moments in Cittadella's millenia-long history. Information is available in eight languages. A single ticket grants access to the Cittadella Visitors' Centre, the Gozo Archaeology Museum, the Nature Museum, the Old Prisons, and the Gran Castello Historic House. The center itself is designed to be accessible, with features for visually and hearing-impaired visitors. The Cittadella, also known as the Castello, has been inhabited since the Bronze Age and served as an acropolis in Punic-Roman times. It has been a sanctuary, religious site, and defense system for Gozo's population. The fortress boasts impressive medieval architecture, with walls, towers, and a well-planned street layout.
