Discovering the Historic Charm of Rock Cut Observation Post

Getting There

• Car

  From Hondoq Bay, head north on Triq Hondoq towards Qala. Continue straight for about 1.5 km until you reach the intersection with Triq il-Limiti. Turn left onto Triq il-Limiti and continue for approximately 6 km. Follow the road signs towards Mellieħa. When you reach Mellieħa, look for signs directing you to the Rock Cut Observation Post, which is located at W8RJ+MCX. There is no entry fee, and parking is available near the site.

• Public Transportation

  From Hondoq Bay, walk to the nearest bus stop on Triq Hondoq. Take bus route 222 towards Mellieħa. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Disembark at the Mellieħa bus terminal. From there, you can either walk for approximately 20 minutes following the signs to the Rock Cut Observation Post (W8RJ+MCX) or take a short taxi ride if you prefer not to walk. The bus fare is around €2.00.

• Walking

  If you are already in the vicinity of Hondoq Bay and prefer to walk, head out of the bay area and follow Triq Hondoq towards Qala. Continue until you reach the main road and turn left onto Triq il-Limiti. Walk about 6 km towards Mellieħa, enjoying the scenic views. Once you reach Mellieħa, look for the signs that lead to the Rock Cut Observation Post at W8RJ+MCX. This walk can take over an hour, so ensure you have water and wear comfortable shoes.
