Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Mgarr, head east on Triq Il-Knisja towards the main road (Triq Il-Wied). Turn left onto Triq Il-Wied. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the bus stop near the Gozo ferry terminal. Here, you can catch a bus to Żebbuġ. Take bus number 41 or 42, which will take you directly to Żebbuġ. Once you arrive at the Żebbuġ bus stop, walk towards Triq Ix-Xwejni. The Xwejni Salt Pans will be located about 1.5 kilometers from the bus stop. Head south on Triq Ix-Xwejni; you will pass several local shops and the beautiful countryside. Follow the signs until you reach the salt pans.

    From Mgarr, walk to the ferry terminal and board a bus heading towards Valletta. Get off at the Valletta bus terminal and transfer to bus number 41 or 42, which goes to Żebbuġ. Once you arrive at the Żebbuġ bus stop, continue on foot to Triq Ix-Xwejni. Walk south along Triq Ix-Xwejni for approximately 1.5 kilometers to reach the Xwejni Salt Pans.
