Getting There

• Bus

  From St. Julian's, head to the nearest bus stop which is located on the main road, Triq Sant'Andrija. Look for the bus number 81, 82, or 119 that travels towards Valletta. Board the bus and enjoy the scenic ride. Disembark at the 'Kalkara' stop. From there, walk towards the direction of the sea until you reach the entrance of Fort Rinella, which is a short 10-minute walk along the waterfront.

• Ferry

  If you prefer a more scenic route, you can take a ferry from Sliema to Valletta. To get to Sliema from St. Julian's, walk towards the Sliema Ferries area, which is about a 20-minute walk along the coastline. Once at Sliema Ferries, board the ferry to Valletta. After arriving in Valletta, catch a bus number 81, 82, or 119 towards Kalkara and get off at the 'Kalkara' stop. From there, it's a 10-minute walk to Fort Rinella.

• Walking

  For those who enjoy walking, you can make your way to Kalkara directly by following the coastline. Start at Balluta Bay in St. Julian's and walk along the promenade towards Sliema. Continue along the coast, passing through Gzira until you reach the outskirts of Valletta. From Valletta, follow the signs towards Kalkara, which should take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Kalkara, head towards the sea and look for the entrance to Fort Rinella, which is easily recognizable.
