    Getting There

    Walking

    If you are starting from the Upper Barracca Gardens, exit the gardens and head down the steps towards the city. Once you reach the bottom, turn left and walk along the main road, following the signs for 'Valletta City Centre'. Continue straight until you reach the entrance of the city gates. Once through the gates, take a right and walk along Republic Street. Independence Square will be on your left after a short walk.

    From the Lower Barracca Gardens, exit the gardens and walk towards the nearest street, which is Triq Sant' Anna. Turn right and follow this road until you reach the main road. Cross the road and continue straight, following the signs for Republic Street. Walk along Republic Street, and you will see Independence Square on your left after a few minutes.

    If you are at the Valletta Waterfront, exit the area and head towards the main road, Triq il-Waterfront. Turn left and walk towards the city centre. As you walk, follow the signs to the city gates. Once you reach the gates, pass through them and turn right onto Republic Street. Independence Square will be a short distance ahead on your left.

    If you are near the bus terminal in Valletta, board any bus that has a stop at Republic Street. Most buses will drop you off near the city centre. Once you disembark, walk down Republic Street, and Independence Square will be on your left after a short walk.
