Getting There

Walking
Start at the Upper Barracca Gardens, which is a popular viewpoint in Valletta. From the gardens, head towards the main exit and take the stairs down towards the city streets. Once you reach the street level, turn right onto Triq Sant'Anna, then take the first left onto Triq il-Lanca. Continue walking until you reach the end of the street, where you will see the entrance to Fort St. Angelo. Go through the gate and walk straight ahead towards the waterfront. The Freedom Day Monument is located near the Birgu waterfront, just a short walk from Fort St. Angelo. You will see it on your left, positioned prominently along the promenade.

If you are starting from the Valletta City Gate, exit the city through the gate and walk straight along Republic Street. Continue straight until you reach the end of the street where you will see the sea in front of you. Turn left onto the waterfront promenade and follow the coast. After a short distance, look for signs directing you towards Birgu. You will soon see the Freedom Day Monument on your right, situated along the promenade.

From the National Museum of Fine Arts, exit the museum and turn left onto St. Paul Street. Walk straight until you reach the end of the street, then turn right onto Triq l-Ifran. Continue walking until you reach the waterfront, then turn left and walk along the promenade. The Freedom Day Monument will be ahead on your left, easily visible as you approach the waterfront.
