Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Upper Barracca Gardens, exit the gardens and head towards the main street, Triq Il-Merkanti. Turn left and walk straight until you reach the junction with Triq Sant' Orsla. Continue straight to reach the main boulevard, Republic Street (Triq Repubblika). Walk along Republic Street, passing by shops and cafes, until you reach the end where it meets the square in front of the Parliament Building. Here, turn right onto Triq San Ġwann and continue walking until you see the entrance to Fort St. Elmo on your left. The walk should take approximately 15-20 minutes.

    If you are starting from the National Museum of Archaeology, exit the museum and head south towards the main street, Triq Repubblika. Turn left and walk towards the end of the street. Once you reach the square in front of the Parliament, turn right onto Triq San Ġwann. Continue walking straight, and you will find Fort St. Elmo on your left, within about 10-15 minutes.

    From the Valletta Waterfront, start walking towards the main road and head towards the city center. Follow the path leading to Triq Il-Merkanti, then take a left at the junction to reach Republic Street. Walk along Republic Street until you reach the Parliament Building square. Turn right onto Triq San Ġwann, and continue until you see Fort St. Elmo on your left. This route should take around 25-30 minutes.
