Getting There

  • Public Bus

    From downtown Annapolis, walk to the nearest bus stop on West Street. Take the Annapolis Transit Bus Route 10 towards the Annapolis Mall. Transfer at the Westfield Annapolis Mall to a DC-bound bus service such as the Metrobus B30. Follow the route to the last stop at the Greenbelt Metro Station. From there, take the Green Line towards Branch Avenue and disembark at the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro Station. Finally, transfer to the Red Line towards Glenmont, and get off at the Smithsonian Metro Station. Walk approximately 10 minutes to reach the Washington Monument at 2 15th St NW.

  • Train

    Head to the Annapolis Train Station, located on the eastern edge of downtown. Take a MARC train on the Penn Line towards Washington, D.C. Disembark at the Union Station in Washington, D.C. From Union Station, you can either walk to the Washington Monument, which is about a 30-minute walk (1.5 miles) southwest, or take the Metro from Union Station. If you choose the Metro, board the Red Line towards Glenmont and get off at the Smithsonian Metro Station. Walk approximately 10 minutes to reach the Washington Monument.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bike from one of the bike-sharing stations in Annapolis. Start your ride towards the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and follow the designated bike paths towards Edgewater. Continue on the South River Trail, which leads you through scenic areas. Once you reach the Washington, D.C. area, head towards the National Mall. The Washington Monument is located at 2 15th St NW, directly at the National Mall.
