Public Transit
From downtown Bethesda, walk to the Bethesda Metro Station located at 7400 Wisconsin Ave. Take the Red Line train towards Glenmont. Ride for 6 stops and get off at the Silver Spring station. Once there, transfer to the Metrobus Route 9 towards Great Falls Park. Stay on the bus for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the 'Great Falls Park' stop. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to the Matildaville Trail entrance.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, rent a bike from one of the bike-sharing stations in Bethesda. Head north on Wisconsin Ave, then take a right onto Old Georgetown Rd. Continue until you reach the Capital Crescent Trail. Follow the trail towards the northwest, enjoying the scenic views. The trail will lead you through parts of the C&O Canal National Historical Park. When you reach Great Falls Park, look for signs directing you to the Matildaville Trail.
Walking
If you're up for a longer walk, start at the Bethesda Metro Station. Walk straight down Wisconsin Ave heading north for about 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with River Rd. Cross River Rd and take a left. Continue walking for about 2 miles, and you will see signs for Great Falls Park. Follow the park entrance signs, and after about 10 minutes, you will arrive at the Matildaville Trailhead.
