Metro
From your location in Bethesda, walk to the Bethesda Metro Station, located at 7400 Wisconsin Avenue. Take the Red Line towards Glenmont. Ride the train for 6 stops and get off at the Gallery Place-Chinatown station. Here, transfer to the Yellow Line towards Mount Vernon Sq. After 1 stop, get off at the L'Enfant Plaza station. Finally, switch to the Blue Line towards Franconia-Springfield and ride for 4 stops to reach the King Street-Old Town station in Alexandria, Virginia. From there, you can take a bus or an Uber to Mt Vernon.
Bus
Start at the Bethesda Metro Station and take the Metrobus F4 towards the Silver Spring Metro Station. Ride for about 20 minutes and get off at the stop named 'George Washington Parkway & Mount Vernon'. From there, it's a short walk to Mt Vernon.
Walking
If you are near the National Mall, you can walk to Mt Vernon. Start at the Lincoln Memorial and head southeast towards the Reflecting Pool. Continue along the path that takes you past the Washington Monument and onto the Tidal Basin. Follow the signs towards the George Washington Parkway. This scenic walk is about 3.5 miles and will take approximately 1.5 hours, offering views of the Potomac River along the way.
