Metro
From anywhere in Bethesda, walk to the Bethesda Metro Station located at 7400 Wisconsin Ave. Take the Red Line subway towards Glenmont. Travel for about 20 minutes and get off at the Gallery Place-Chinatown Station. Transfer to the Yellow Line or Green Line towards Greenbelt or Branch Avenue, respectively. Ride for one more stop and get off at the L'Enfant Plaza Station. From there, follow the signs to the National Mall, which is just a short walk.

Head to the nearest bus stop in Bethesda. Board either the Ride On Bus Route 34 or 36 towards Rockville. Ride for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the Rockville Metro Station. From there, transfer to the Red Line towards Glenmont. Get off at the Gallery Place-Chinatown Station, then switch to the Yellow or Green Line, heading to L'Enfant Plaza Station. After getting off, follow the signs to the National Mall.
