Car
If you are driving from the Billy Goat Trail, head southwest on the trail until you reach the parking lot at the Great Falls Park entrance. From there, take the exit onto Falls Road and then turn left onto MacArthur Blvd. Continue on MacArthur Blvd for about 2.5 miles until you reach the intersection with River Road. Turn right onto River Road and follow it for approximately 1.5 miles. The Potomac River Dam will be on your left, just past the intersection with the local road marked as 2P4W+JG.

To reach Potomac River Dam using public transportation, first, walk to the nearest bus stop from the Billy Goat Trail. Take the Metrobus route 29, heading towards Bethesda. Ride for about 20 minutes to the Westlake Center, where you can transfer to the Metrobus route 30 towards Potomac. Ride for another 15 minutes until you reach the stop nearest to the Potomac River Dam location. From there, it is a short walk to the dam, following the signs along River Road.
