Public Transport - Bus
If you are in downtown Columbia, head to the nearest bus stop for the Howard County Transit. Take Route 404 towards 'Centennial Lane & Route 108.' After about 15-20 minutes, get off at the 'Cradlerock Way & Thunder Hill Road' stop. From there, walk east on Cradlerock Way for about 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with Patuxent Branch Trail. Lake Elkhorn Park will be located a short walk south from here, accessible via the trail.

If you are near the Columbia Mall, start by walking towards Little Patuxent Parkway. Cross the road towards the park's entrance, which is approximately a 30-minute walk. Follow Little Patuxent Parkway north until it merges into the Patuxent Branch Trail. Continue walking along the trail, and you will soon arrive at Lake Elkhorn Park.

For a scenic route, rent a bike from one of the local bike rental shops in Columbia. Start your ride from the Columbia Mall, heading south on Little Patuxent Parkway. After about 1 mile, turn right onto the Patuxent Branch Trail. Follow the trail for approximately 2 miles until you see signs for Lake Elkhorn Park. The park has bike racks available for parking your bike.
