Public Bus
Start at the Frederick Transit Center located at 100 S. East St, Frederick, MD. Board the #60 bus towards the 'Frederick City' route. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes, and get off at the stop at the intersection of MD-355 (N Market St) and Gambrill Park Rd. From there, walk approximately 1.5 miles up Gambrill Park Rd, which will lead you directly into Gambrill State Park. Follow the road signs leading to the park entrance.
Bicycle
If you have a bicycle, start at the downtown Frederick area. Head north on N Market St towards MD-355. Continue onto Gambrill Park Rd. It’s about a 4-mile ride, and the road is mostly uphill. Be sure to follow the bike lane and watch for traffic. Once you reach the park entrance at 8602 Gambrill Park Rd, you can lock your bike at the designated bike rack.
Walking
For those who prefer to walk, start from the Frederick City Hall at 101 N Court St. Walk north on N Court St, then turn left onto W Patrick St. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with N Market St. Turn right and walk north along N Market St until you reach Gambrill Park Rd. Walk approximately 1.5 miles up Gambrill Park Rd until you arrive at the park entrance. This route is about 4 miles and may take around 1.5 hours.
