Getting There

  • Metro

    From Rockville, head to the Rockville Metro Station located at 30 Maryland Ave. Take the Red Line metro train towards Glenmont. Stay on the train for about 30 minutes, passing through stations like Twinbrook and White Flint. Get off at the Farragut North Metro Station. Exit the station and walk south on 17th St NW for about 5 minutes until you reach Pennsylvania Ave NW. Lafayette Square will be right at the intersection of Pennsylvania Ave NW and 16th St NW.

  • Bus

    From the Rockville Town Center, walk to the nearest bus stop on E Montgomery Ave. Take the Ride On Bus #46 towards the Glenmont Metro Station. After about 25 minutes, get off at the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Station. Transfer to the Red Line towards Glenmont. After about 10 minutes, get off at the Farragut North Metro Station. From there, walk south on 17th St NW for about 5 minutes until you reach the intersection with Pennsylvania Ave NW where Lafayette Square is located.

  • Walking

    If you are up for a longer stroll, you can walk from the Rockville Town Center to Lafayette Square. Start by heading southeast on Maryland Ave towards E Middle Ln. Continue straight onto N Washington St, then onto S Washington St. Walk until you reach the Rock Creek Park path. Follow the path until you reach the National Mall. Once at the National Mall, head east towards the White House. Lafayette Square is directly north of the White House, at the intersection of Pennsylvania Ave NW and 16th St NW. This route is approximately 15 miles and will take you around 4 to 5 hours on foot.
