From Gaithersburg, walk to the Gaithersburg Metro Station (located at 7 S Summit Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20877). Board the Red Line train heading towards Glenmont. Stay on until you reach the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro Station (approximately 30 minutes). Once you arrive, follow the signs to transfer to the Yellow or Green Line towards Branch Ave or Greenbelt. Get off at the L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station, which is the closest station to the National Mall.

Head to the nearest bus stop on Route 355 (also called Frederick Avenue) and take the Ride On Bus Route 55 towards the Shady Grove Metro Station. Once at the Shady Grove Station, transfer to the Metro Red Line and head towards Glenmont. Transfer at Gallery Place-Chinatown to the Yellow or Green Line towards Branch Ave or Greenbelt. Disembark at L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station.
