    From Gaithersburg, walk to the Gaithersburg Metro Station on 1st St. S. and E. Diamond Ave. Take the Red Line train towards Glenmont. Get off at the Union Station stop. From Union Station, transfer to the Red Line towards Shady Grove and take it to the Gallery Place-Chinatown stop. Once you exit the station, head southwest on 7th St NW towards G St NW. Turn left onto G St NW, and you will reach the Smithsonian American Art Museum at the corner of G Street Northwest and 8th St NW.

    Head to the nearest bus stop in Gaithersburg. Take the Montgomery County Ride On bus, Route 55, towards the Shady Grove Metro Station.
