From any point in Gaithersburg, locate the nearest bus stop and take the Ride On Bus Route 55 towards the Germantown Transit Center. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop at 'Frederick Rd & 5th St'. From there, transfer to the Frederick County Transit (FRED) bus service, and take the FRED Route 1 towards 'Frederick City'. Disembark at the 'Frederick Municipal Forest' stop. The park entrance will be a short walk from the bus stop.

Rent a bike from one of the local bike-sharing stations in Gaithersburg. Head northwest on the Great Seneca Highway towards Frederick. Follow the bike path along the road until you reach the intersection with MD-355. Continue following the bike lanes until you arrive at the Frederick Municipal Forest. It’s approximately a 12-mile bike ride, taking you through scenic views along the way.

If you're near the Gaithersburg City Hall or the Lakeforest Mall, you can start walking towards the Frederick Municipal Forest. Head east on MD-355 (Frederick Ave) for about 3 miles, then take a left onto MD-85 (Buckeystown Pike). Continue for another mile until you reach the entrance of the Frederick Municipal Forest. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as it’s a long walk of approximately 4 miles.
