    From Laurel, walk to the nearest bus stop on Route 1 (Baltimore Avenue). Take the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) Bus 86 towards Greenbelt Metro Station. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the Greenbelt Metro Station. Transfer to the Washington Metro's Green Line towards Branch Avenue. After about 30 minutes, get off at the L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station. From there, transfer to the Blue, Orange, or Yellow Line trains towards the Smithsonian or National Gallery of Art. Get off at the Smithsonian Metro Station. Walk east on Independence Ave SW for about 5 minutes to reach the Hirshhorn Museum located at Independence Ave SW & 7th St SW, Washington, DC 20560.

    Metro

    Walk to the nearest Metro station in Laurel, which is the Laurel Town Center Station. Board the train on the MARC (Maryland Area Regional Commuter) line towards Washington, DC. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Washington Union Station, exit the station and follow the signs to the Metro. Take the Metro Red Line towards Glenmont, and transfer at Gallery Place-Chinatown to the Yellow or Green Line towards Branch Avenue. Ride for two stops and get off at L'Enfant Plaza. From L'Enfant Plaza, walk east on Independence Ave SW for about 5 minutes to reach the Hirshhorn Museum.

    Bicycle

    If you are comfortable cycling, rent a bike from a local bike-sharing station in Laurel. Start by heading south on Route 1 (Baltimore Avenue). Follow the bike lanes to the D.C. line, which will take you about 5 miles (approximately 30 minutes of cycling). Once in D.C., you can continue to the National Mall area.
