Bus
From Laurel, head to the Laurel Transit Center located at 8100 Sandy Spring Rd. Take the Washington Metro Bus (WMATA) Route B30 towards Greenbelt Metro Station. Ride the bus until you reach the Greenbelt Metro Station. From there, transfer to the Green Line towards Branch Avenue. Alight at the L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station. Finally, transfer to the Orange, Silver, or Blue Line and get off at the McPherson Square Metro Station. Lafayette Square is a short 5-minute walk from there.
Train
Make your way to the Laurel MARC Train Station at 100 1st St. Board a train on the Penn Line towards Union Station. After approximately 30 minutes, disembark at the Washington Union Station. From Union Station, you can either walk towards Lafayette Square, which is about a 20-minute walk, or take the Metro Red Line from Union Station to the Gallery Place-Chinatown Station, then transfer to the Orange, Silver, or Blue Line and get off at McPherson Square. Lafayette Square is a short 5-minute walk from there.
Walking
If you are in the central Laurel area, you can walk to the Laurel Transit Center at 8100 Sandy Spring Rd. From there, take the bus or train options available as previously described. However, if you prefer walking and are up for a long stroll, head south along Route 1 (Baltimore Ave) towards Washington, DC. This is a long walk of approximately 20 miles, so plan accordingly with plenty of water and breaks.
