Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Laurel, Maryland. The Patuxent Research Refuge is located at 10901 Scarlet Tanager Loop, Laurel, MD 20708. From the center of Laurel, you can take US-1 North, then turn left onto Contee Road. After approximately 1.5 miles, turn left onto Scarlet Tanager Loop. The entrance to the refuge will be on your right. Make sure to check for parking upon arrival, as some areas may require a fee.

• Public Transportation

  To reach the Patuxent Research Refuge via public transportation, take the MARC Train from Washington D.C. or Baltimore to the Laurel station. Once you arrive at the Laurel station (check the MARC schedule for times), you can catch a local bus (such as the Prince George's County Transit) that stops near the refuge.
