Car
From the main entrance of Rocky Gap State Park, head south on Lake Shore Drive. Continue straight for about 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Route 144 (also known as National Pike). Turn left onto Route 144 and continue for approximately 2 miles. Look for signs pointing towards the Great Allegheny Passage (the bike trail) on your right. Turn right onto the Great Allegheny Passage and follow the trail for about 1 mile until you reach Bone Cave, which will be marked along the path.
Bicycle
If you're at Rocky Gap State Park and prefer to cycle, you can access the Great Allegheny Passage directly from the park. Start at the park's bike rental station if you need a bike. Head to the Great Allegheny Passage trailhead, which is located near the entrance of the park. Follow the trail south for about 1 mile until you arrive at Bone Cave. The trail is well-marked, and you will enjoy scenic views along the way.
Hiking
If you are hiking from the park, you can start from any of the hiking trails. Head towards the Great Allegheny Passage trailhead, which is easily accessible from the main trails in the park. Once on the Great Allegheny Passage, walk south for about 1 mile. The trail is relatively flat and well-maintained, making it an enjoyable hike to Bone Cave.
Public Transportation
Currently, there is limited public transportation directly to Rocky Gap State Park from nearby towns. However, if you are in La Vale, you can take a local taxi or rideshare service to the park entrance. Once inside the park, follow the same directions mentioned for cars or bicycles to reach Bone Cave. Note that taxi fares may vary, so it's advisable to check with the local taxi services for current rates.
